  1.  ElahiGanj in Murshidabad district has become the first village in Bengal to ban sale and consumption of alcohol and narcotics.

  2. The government is going to start Highways Advisory Services to provide real time traffic updates on 12 National Highways in 13 States through All India Radio.

  3. The Centre has permitted the Assam government to use drones for vigilance at the Kaziranga National Park to prevent rhino poaching.

  4. Dr Shawna Pandya (32) An Indian-origin neurosurgeon currently based in Canada has been shortlisted by NASA for its 2018 space mission under the Citizen Science Astronaut (CSA) programme.

  5. The Government has appointed three part-time Non-Official Directors on the all-powerful Central Board of the Reserve Bank of India for a four-year term. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has appointed Ashok Gulati, Manish Sabharwal and Rajiv Kumar as part-time Non-Official Directors on the Central Board.

  6. The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance has entered into four more unilateral Advance Pricing Agreements (APAs). The four APAs signed pertain to the Manufacturing, Financial and Information Technology sectors of the economy.

  7. Private sector lender IDFC Bank has collaborated with fintech startup IndiaLends to enable first-time borrowers who do not have a credit history to take loans.

  8. PNB Housing Finance Limited (PNBHFL) has signed an MOU with CREDAI West Bengal to train 1000 construction workers in Kolkata and nearby villages. 

  9. The Delhi Excise Department said, all liquor shops will be closed from 5 PM today till 5 PM on Saturday, the day of polling.
