  • World Pest Day.

  • Ganesh Nilkanta Iyer, 1st Indian to be inducted as a member in International table tennis federation (ITTC).

  • Indian won by 124 runs defeated Pakistan to champion trophy.

  • 10 lakh conventional street lights will be replaced with LED lights in Gram Panchayats of 7 districts in Andhra Pradesh. The project will be carried out by the Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) functioning under the Ministry of Power. This project will be the first rural LED street lighting project under the Government of India’s Street Lighting National Project (SLNP). 

  • Nepal & China’s Gezhouba Group Corporation (CGGC) ink pact for developing a 1,200 MW Budhigandaki Hydroelectric Project, which will be the biggest hydro project in Nepal having the potential to resolve its perennial power crisis.

  • Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt, Yemen, Libya and UAE have suspended their diplomatic ties with Qatar.

  • India ranked 45th down from last year, in terms of competitiveness in the annual rankings compiled by the International Institute for Management Development’s (IMD) World Competitiveness Centre.

  •  Ministry of Rural Development selected Vizianagaram district in Andhra Pradesh as one among the 17 districts across the nation for the MGNREGA annual award for effective implementation of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee (MGNREGA) Act during 2015-16.

  • The 2017 Global Retail Development Index (GRDI) titled ‘The Age of Focus‘placed India at the top position among 30 developing countries on ease of doing business in the retail sector.

  • The Telangana government was the only government in the country to launch pension for single women. he government decided to distribute pension of Rs.1,000 per month to such women on humanitarian grounds.
