Common Admission Test
CAT is an aptitude test that is an entry level standard in management institutes for MBA and other programs. To enroll in prestigious management institutes like IIM, Symbiosis, etc. an aspirant has to clear CAT. The aspirants who want to apply for the PGP (Post Graduate Programme in Management) or MBA (Master of Business Administration) or PGDM (Post Graduate Diploma in Management) need to appear for the CAT first. The CAT scores are mandatory for any admission in private as well as government recognized management universities and Business schools.
There are different eligibility criteria for different IIM’s whereas in other B schools, a candidate can apply on the basis of the CAT score of that year. In the business schools which follow a rigorous admission procedure, the second level of admission process with a Written Ability Test (WAT), Group Discussions (GD) or Personal Interview (PI) can follow. Candidates are advised to prepare accordingly.
